The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) organises different sessions of the Orientation Week (OW). The OW basically addresses international exchange bachelor's degree students who are due to begin studying at the UPC in the 2018-2019 autumn semester. Full-time master's degree students are also welcome.

The OW lasts two days. It includes an institutional welcome, information on legal procedures and the main UPC services that can help students during their stay, an introductory workshop to the Catalan language and culture, one sports session and also a social/cultural activity.

 

There will be different sessions of the Orientation Week. You can attend the one you prefer, depending on your arrival date and when your lectures begin at your host school at the UPC.

Orientation Week dates


  • OW1: 3 and 4 September (Monday and Tuesday)
    Recommended for students coming to the following UPC schools:
    ESAB, ESEIAAT for bachelor's degrees, ETSAB for bachelor's degrees, ETSECCPB (Camins) for bachelor's degrees, FIB

  • OW2: 6 and 7 September (Thursday and Friday)
    Recommended for students coming to the following UPC schools:
    CITM, EEBE, EETAC, EPSEB, EPSEVG for bachelor's degrees, ETSETB, FOOT

  • OW3: 10 and 12 September (Monday and Wednesday)
    Recommended for students coming to the following UPC schools:
    EPSEM, EPSEVG for master's degrees, FME
  • OW4: 13 and 14 September (Thursday and Friday)
    Recommended for students coming to the following UPC schools:
    ETSAB for master's degrees, ETSECCPB (Camins) for master's degrees
  • OW5: 17 and 18 September (Monday and Tuesday)
    Recommended for students coming to the following UPC schools:
    ESEIAAT for master's degrees, EUNCET

 

Note 1: ETSEIB students must attend the specific welcome sessions indicated by the ETSEIB. These students must contact: incoming.etseib@upc.edu

Note 2: Students going to other campuses outside the city of Barcelona must take into account transport timetables to and from Barcelona's North Campus (i.e. if they are staying in Terrassa or Vilanova and wish to attend the Orientation Week).

 

Cost

All these activities offered by the University are FREE, but the number of places is limited

Language

The activities will be organised and held in English and Spanish groups.

Registration procedure. How do I register for the Orientation Week?

Students who have submitted their online application will receive an e-mail a few days later, from 23 July onwards. (Applications are answered in the order they are received.)

Important warning

If you are not sure you will be able to attend all the activities in the Orientation Week, or you have to cancel your participation and/or exchange stay, please let us know by e-mailing oficina.mobilitat.internacional@upc.edu. If you do not, you are preventing someone else from being able to attend.

What can I do if I can't register for the OW or I am arriving later?

No problem! In the first few days after your arrival, come to the International Students Office (OMI). We will give you the general information and information about legal procedures that we give on the first day of the Orientation Week.

Additional information about the workshop on Catalan language and culture

This is a special workshop in the UPC's Orientation Week. The two-hour workshop enables you to make initial contact with Catalan language and culture and to become familiar with the environment where you are going to study.  Highly recommended for students who have just arrived.

Where should I go on the first day? Welcome and registration desk for the OW

OW attendance certificates

Attendance certificates can be issued a few days after the OW to students who have attended at least 80% of the activities over the two days.

Additional information about the OW programme and groups

The activities on the UPC's North Campus will take place mainly in the mornings. The social activity will take place in the afternoon.

There will be groups in English and groups in Spanish. Students will be informed about these groups by e-mail in the days after registering for the OW.
