Descripció:
This Master’s Final Thesis represents an academic and methodological continuation of a previous study focused on the technical, economic, environmental, and risk analysis of first-stage recovery methods for Reusable Launch Vehicles (RLVs).
While the prior work relied primarily on literature review and comparative scenario analysis, the present thesis introduces an empirical qualitative approach, based on semi-structured interviews with experts from the aerospace sector (industry, space agencies, research centers, and academia).
The objective is to capture expert perceptions regarding the advantages, drawbacks, technological barriers, operational constraints, and strategic implications of different recovery methods (VT-VL RTLS, VT-VL DRL, VT-HL Fly-Back, and In-Air Capturing). The collected data will be systematically analyzed using ATLAS.ti qualitative analysis software.
Objectius:
* To deepen the understanding of expert perceptions regarding the main recovery methods analyzed in the previous study.
* To identify patterns, consensus areas, and divergences related to costs, risks, sustainability, technological maturity (TRL), and industrial scalability.
* To analyze non-technical barriers (organizational, regulatory, operational) affecting the adoption of specific recovery methods.
* To triangulate qualitative findings with existing literature and previous analytical results to strengthen the validity of the study.
* To develop analysis and discussion of results.
Tasques a realitzar / Característiques:
* Review and update of the theoretical framework-
* Identification of research gaps justifying the qualitative approach.
* Design of the qualitative research methodology: expert profiles to be interviewed and design of a semi-structured interview guide
* Conduct interviews and systematic transcription of collected material.
* Qualitative data analysis using ATLAS.ti: coding of interview transcripts.
* Identification of categories, subcategories, and conceptual relationships.
* Comparative analysis across recovery methods.
* Data triangulation and discussion of results
* Cross-analysis of empirical findings, scientific literature, and previous thesis results.
* Critical discussion of technological, economic, and strategic implications.
