Agriculture has been a critical sector for feeding the world's growing population, and with the advancement of technology, farming practices are undergoing significant changes. Cartesian farm robots are a promising solution for precision agriculture, providing new opportunities for increasing efficiency and reducing costs. These robots consist of a moving platform that can be positioned in a precise manner, allowing for precise operations such as seeding, planting, watering and harvesting. In recent years, there have been numerous advancements in the development of Cartesian farm robots, including improvements in accuracy, mobility, and automation.
Objectius:
This project aims to build and improve upon an existing farm robot system to contribute to the needs of modern agriculture. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build and develop a custom farm robot, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions to enhance its functionality and contribute in the field of precission agriculture.
Tasques a realitzar / Característiques:
The successful candidate is expected to assemble, build and comission the farm robot for improved efficiency and accuracy, assuming the following tasks: 1. Research and evaluation of state-of-the-art farm robots and their functionality 2. Integration of hardware components in the current robot platform: sensors, actuators, and control systems 3. User interface design and development for controlling and monitoring the robot 4. Implementation of possible control algorithms and web software of enhanced new functionalities 5. Troubleshooting, testing and comissioning of the robot's performance and functionality 6. Integration of additional features, such as data processing and analysis capabilities 7. Development of documentation and training materials for the robot

Requisits:
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering skills, particularly in the following areas: 1. Strong knowledge of robotics and mechanical engineering principles, including control systems, sensors, and actuators. 2. Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB or Web design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React and such). 3. Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Altium or SolidWorks. 4. Knowledge of electrical and electronics engineering, including circuit design, wiring, and microcontroller hardware programming. 5. Ability to work with microcontrollers and embedded systems, such as Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano or Arduino. 6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues. 7. Experience with 3D printing for terminal tool development The following skills are a plus: 1.- Knowledge in programming Machine Learning methods and algorithms 2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong project management skills. 3. Passion for innovation and a drive to contribute to the advancement of agricultural robotics. 4. Strong interest in agriculture and its future, and a desire to make a positive impact in this field.
