Declaration on the use of generative artificial intelligence tools
In the writing of the final thesis, the use of generative AI tools is accepted provided that:
- The tools are not presented as authors or co-authors of the final thesis.
- The final thesis is an accurate representation of the student’s work and intellectual contributions, and not the result of the tool’s generative capabilities.
- The author assumes responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and correctness of all the material in their final degree project.
- It is clearly indicated that generative AI software tools have been used to generate new content such as text, images, tables, code, etc.
- It is clearly indicated if generative AI tools have been used to generate entire sections of the work, including tables, graphs, images, and other content. The specific sections, as well as the tools and versions used, must be detailed.
- Generative AI software tools are used only to edit and improve the quality of the text (spelling, grammar, punctuation, or clarity).
A section must be included in the report declaring the use of generative artificial intelligence tools, including:
- Tool(s) used, indicating the software versions
- Purpose of their use
- Specific parts or sections in which they have been used, where aplicable
- Review and editing by the student of the results generated by the tool, where aplicable
- Statement of responsibility as authors for the contents of the work
Transparency is mandatory, but declaring their use does not necessarily mean it is appropriate. The assessment will take into account the real authorship of the work, the critical thinking demonstrated, and its consistency with the ahtors’ academic level and previous background.
