September 1, 2020 - 21:59h] Notes of the Director. Situation on September 1, 2020. COVID-19
Mar 30, 2020
Dear community,
I hope you enjoyed a good and more than deserved vacation.
Throughout the summer we have been aware of the evolution of the pandemic which, up to this date, we have high or very high-risk situation of regrowth in almost all of Catalonia.
In fact, last week we held several working meetings to begin to analyze the situation and study the possible measures to be taken in order to adjust the School Teaching Model to the situation we will find in the beginning of the course. And during this week there are still more meetings / meetings of great importance that could substantially change the way we have to work during the next academic year:
- The UPC Emergency Management Committee met on Monday, August 31st, to review and update the security measures approved by the Governing Council on 2 July.
- The conclusions of the Committee will be presented to the Management of the UPC centers in a meeting with the Rectorate tomorrow on Wednesday, September 2.
- Also, yesterday, there was a meeting between the Ministry of Universities and the different Autonomous Communities to work on joint actions. The conclusions will probably be made public by Minister Castells in an appearance this Thursday, September 3.
- And on Thursday, September 3, of there will be a reunion between the Government and the universities to review PROCICAT Sectorial Plan approved in June.
As you can imagine, from all these meetings we expect clear instructions and indications that allow us to delimit the boundary conditions in which we will have to work in order to make decisions in the School.
We hope that at the beginning of next week we can inform you about the potential teaching adjustments for the start of the course throughout the community, after holding the relevant working meetings with coordinators of degrees and masters, departmental representatives in the School, Student Delegation and Standing Committee.
We can already count on the probability that the course will be atypical, but we have the involvement of the whole community and the experience gained in recent months.
Courage, especially to those of you who have suffered / are suffering from the pandemic in the closest way, good health and don't stop caring too much!
A big hug to everyone!!
